Research Labs
Expert Vision is the area of research I am most interested in. I am highly motivated in understanding how experts view the world, can insight be gained from seeing through the eyes of an expert? Can behavioral patterns observed from an expert be used to train a novice? I’m unlocking answers about human cognition through extracting Expert Vision.
I am using Expert Vision in human learning by observing humans doing tasks with bio-monitoring and then unlocking insight about underlying cognition through statistical analysis. I am applying Expert vision in Education (Reading & Math), Competitive Gaming(E-Sports), Film & Art Study, Online Dating, Geography of Mind (cross-cultural) and Web Design & Usability.
Scholé Labs Education Research
Education has changed drastically in the last couple of decades – technological advances have allowed for many improvements in education but American test scores continue to free fall, when compared with other countries. Students from the United States have fallen behind, they typically score less on the subjects of math, reading and writing. Can technology be used to help students in the classroom and provide some much needed insight to the instructor? Is it possible to automatically detect and correct mistakes as they happen? These are some of the questions this lab hopes to answer.
Goal: Examines the education system under bio-monitoring and cognitive instruments to see how it can be improved, look into how subjects are taught and see if the methods employed have any validity.
QuickEye – Game Performance Analysis Lab
E-Sports are here to stay, many countries now offer travel visas historically reserved for traditional athletes for video game-athletes. E-Sports is growing at a fast rate, but lacks the performance analytics that major sports have. Established sports such as NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL have established performance metrics and broadcasting technology that enables viewers to gain insight into player statistics, behavior and cognition. QuickEye Labs is interested in analyzing video games under bio-monitoring and cognitive instruments.
The game Research Lab, examines competitive video games under cognitive instruments to find performance metrics that can be used to improve game-athlete ability.
What insight can be gained by monitoring video game athletes with cognitive instruments? Are there performance metrics that can be used to improve player gaming ability through bio-feedback?
Goal: to examine how E-Sports athletes and viewers can benefit from the use of bio-monitoring technology as performance analysis tools for both the athlete and as broadcasting visualizations for the viewer watching, who wish to gain insight into how the brain of the athlete works.
Art & Digital Entertainment Labs
Apply bio-monitoring technology to examine art, film and digital entertainment media. How does the brain process art? What makes a movie scene good? What about this painting creates engagement? What about this Youtube Video made it popular?
Goal: The Art & Digital Entertainment Analysis Labs goal is to examine Art through bio-monitoring instruments to gain insight into how the brain makes decisions on what makes something entertaining, artful and engaging.

Arousal Science Labs
Online dating has drastically changed the rules to the game of courtship. What was once seen as an unconventional method of finding a partner has now become normal. The new rules of courtship are fast emerging and a lot of voices are speaking about what methods work best to optimize your chances at scoring a suitable mate. Arousal Science, examines through Bio-monitoring & cognitive instruments the courtship process in the United States through digital mediums and tries to point out patterns that show sexual strategy specific to each gender. Courtship has evolved or maybe a better way to understand its progression is, it has been distilled to its most basic features and then amplified.
Goal: to properly investigate courtship through digital mediums and provide some insight that relates to both genders apparent specific sexual strategy.
Geography of Mind Labs
Examine how growing up in a different geographic location shapes your perception. It’s long been established that people who are from different cultures view the world different, But exactly how do people from different cultures view the world differently? And are there insights that can explain culture shock, misunderstands etc.
Goal: This labs goal is to showcase how different cultures have diverse perceptions when it comes to things we assume are “common sense”. The lab looks to examine different cultural groups starting with Eastern vs Western mindset and then dividing further.
How do people from different cultures view the world differently? Cross Cultural examination of different research findings.
Web Design & Usability Labs
Website design has matured at a steady rate with much of it just assumed to be “good design”. As more and more websites start to look the same – due to responsive layout and frameworks the question that needs to be answered is, does it work? Website usability & design have established norms in button placement and layout, this lab looks to examine these norms. Also looking at web design trends, standards and examining the accessibility towards populations that may have difficulty browsing through traditional means.
Goal: Examine web design and usability trends through cross cultural lens and see what trends work best for which culture. (continuation of the Google study, analysis of features of a website)
